Correct Drive Belt Tensioning

By Etienne Nagel, Wood-Mizer Africa

It is essential to ensure that the belt is tensioned correctly due to the belt driving the wheel on which the blade runs. If the belt is too loose, it will slip, and the sawmill will lose its power. The belt frequently loses tension; check it regularly.

HOW TO:

1) Loosen the four bolts that anchor the motor to the machine.

2) Use the two bolts on either side of the motor to tension the belt.

3) Ensure the motor sits straight on the machine before tightening the bolts again.

4) Ensure enough play to move 10mm up/down and 10mm left/right.
